The Nurse and her Composure

When McMurphy proceeds to break the glass window again after it was just fixed, the nurse shows no emotions and keeps a calm face. There is no way in my opinion that someone can be ok with that happening twice. Nurse Ratched is keeping her anger bottled up inside. Do you think after some time this will take a toll on her the way she doesnt express her feelings? Or do you think she has complete control of her anger and can wait out McMurphy and make him break a rule that will commit him purmanently?

Personally I think that Ratched will eventually lose her cool. She can't wait McMurphy out indefinetly, in the end I think he might just win.

I think it will take a toll on her, but she has complete control of her anger to wait out McMurphy. i think she will push McMurphy to the edge and he's the one that will cross the line and get in more trouble.

I think after all the shenanigans McMurphy has started and the fact that she hasn't blown up at him already shows us that she has complete control over everything within herself, especially her emotions. This fact further de-feminizes her because women in a patriarchal sense are typically seen as emotional beings who have no control and fly off the handle.

I believe that people like Nurse Ratched BELIEVE that they have total control over their own anger and can withstand any sort of trauma, such as McMurphy breaking the glass. However, most of these people later find that they haven't been in control of their anger, at all, they've only been withholding it. This can lead to only two things. Insanity (seems pretty perfect, doesn't it? For the story?) and/or physical health problems due to built up stress (In the end this would mean the McMurphy, in the end, wins)

She will definitely lose her cool in the end and she will more than likely take it out on McMurphy himself. In the beginning of the book, Nurse Rached seemed to show more of her feelings before McMurphy came and when he really started to bother her she finally had enough anger to have to keep it all inside for the time being.
