Fishing Trip
McMurphy has planned this deep sea fishing trip for ten patients. The Nurse is allowing them to get out and possibly have a good time for once. Do you think this trip will go as planned, to just have a nice day of fishing or will Mcmurphy and the patients decide on a different plan? If the fishing trip doesnt work out will Nurse Ratched deal out severe punishment or just suspend any further trips outside of the ward?

I think that the fishing trip will happen, but there will be some issues. The Nurse is not gonna just let them do it easily because it is not in her system. I feel like she will think of anything possible for them not to go. Despite the Nurse's attempts i think McMurphy will be able to pull through and out smart her so they can have their trip.
First, i think that the only reason the Nurse is letting the trip run is because of McMurphy. She is either intimidated by him slighly and letting it show by giving him what he wants, or, she is setting him up only to catch him doing something wrong so that she may lauy down some punishment and keep him longer.
As far as the trip itself, i dont think the patients will try anything dumb like escaping. McMurphy is working with the Cheif to "Build him up again". However i do think there will be some trouble with the prostitute, who McMurphy says is his Aunt.
I agree with cheyenne's statement becuase i think the nurse is going to allow the fishing trip to happen, but she will have rules and consequences for everything they do on the trip. Secondly the nurse is not the kind of person that just allows things like that to happen, so she is probally going to figure out a way to prevent them from going on the fishing trip if possible. Lastly McMurphy will have to stay calm and controlled in order to out smart the nurse in any attempts she makes to prevent their trip.
I agree with everyone and I think the Nurse will let it happen. However, I think that something will go wrong. McMurphy is leading this trip and with him in charge, who knows what could happen. I also think that the whole deal with the prostitute will not go well. I don't think the patients will try to escape but who knows if they will try to do something stupid and mess it for everyone.
I agree with everyone that the Nurse will go along with the fishing trip but, her intentions are not to have fun. Nurse Ratched is waiting for McMurphy to do something wrong so that she can come up with a harsh punishment. I feel that Nurse Ratched has been waiting for somthing like this to happen if McMurphy is in charge of this trip she will make sure that it is not an easy task to withhold. Therefore, Nurse Ratched will win and watch McMurphy suffer.
I really dont know why Big Nurse is actually letting them go on the trip. From her character and the way she once, one would never think that she would never be fine with it. But you can tell that she doesnt want them to go because she keeps commenting on how the weather is going to be very bad. Also, McMurphy confessed that he had no idea how to navigate boats so that's why he insisted George to come. This is a sign that something bad will happen.
I agree that the fishing trip will happen but I also think that if something goes wrong, Nurse Ratched wont come down hard on the entire group but instead use her underhandedness to punish McMurphy. This will give her leverage with McMurphy once again.
I feel the fishing trip symbolizes everything washes up at sea. McMurphy gets busted into having to admit he is making a profit. This gives Ms. Ratched control over him once again.. foreshadowing something to change?
